Apostolic Christian Temple
of Salida
Established on
Nov. 11,1976, by the Rev. Nathaniel Montez Sr. We started in a small
store front in the town of Salida, on Broadway with Eight people
with in one year we grew to about one hundred people in the store
front that had a maximum occupancy of 25. in 1979 we bought our
property at our current location, for $65, 000.00, our pastor
putting the down payment, which included buying half of the property
for his own personal use.
With in one year of the buying of the property, the church purchased
the old barber shop at Castle Air force base, and had it moved to
our current location. We then gutted the building, and started
renovations. The dedication for this was in 1980, with Bishop
Treasurer Elisa Duarte, dedicating our sanctuary. We have been in
this building until now, and we are hoping to be in our new building
by June 2006.
We are a oneness church that believes that Jesus Christ is our Lord
and Savior. We baptize in the name of Jesus for the remission of our
sins, and believe that the receiving of the Holy Ghost is essential
to make heaven our home. We belong to the Apostolic Assembly of the
Faith in Christ Jesus. I Nathaniel Montez Jr am a Fourth Generation
Apostolic, and a Third generation Pastor, following in the foot
steps of my Grandfather, and Father as Pastors.
My grandfather started as pastor in Brawley, California in the
1930's, my father was born in the house in back of the church there.
My grandfather also pastored churches in Anaheim, Riverbank,
Grayson, and The 2nd church of Modesto. Having started the churches
in Riverbank, Grayson, and 2nd Modesto, he also helped his Brother
the Rev. Remijo Montez start the 1st church of Modesto. He was
originally licensed by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World,
known as the PAW's.
I have been pastor for ten years, and a licensed minister for
thirteen years. In January of 2002 I received a kidney transplant at
Stanford University Medical Center, in Palo Alto, California. Since
then my life has been completely different thanks to God. I am
married to my beautiful wife Evette for almost 18 years, and I have
two wonderful daughters, Devonette 16 years old, and Athalia one
year old.
Yours in Christ
Pastor Nathaniel Montez Jr.
